Our Social Support Programs for adults provides opportunities to connect, build friendships, develop skills and enjoy new experiences in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Weekdays Peer Support
Our Weekdays Program offers a variety of fun, engaging group activities designed to promote friendship, confidence, independence, and community participation. Enjoy ten pin bowling, soap making, trips to the cinema, lunches at local clubs and pubs, craft days, karaoke, cooking programs, live music, day trips, and much more.
Participants also have opportunities to attend special events throughout the year, including the Sydney Royal Easter Show, musicals, and theatre productions.
A new activity calendar is released every two months, giving you the flexibility to choose the activities that interest you most.

Nightlife Social
Join us on Thursday and Friday nights for fun, social outings and community adventures. Enjoy activities such as dinner at local clubs, twilight walks, outdoor movie nights, barefoot bowls, Thursday night markets, shopping trips, indoor golf, the DanceAbility Disco, and much more.
Nightlife Social is a great way to make friends, build confidence, and have fun in a supportive environment. -

Social Support South
The Social Support South group does activities from 10am to 3pm on a Saturday. They do heaps of fun things like visit farms, go to race days, play mini golf, laser tag, ten pin bowling and go out for lunch at local pubs and clubs.
The schedule of activities is updated every two months. The Social Support team try to include visits to anything exciting that is happening in the area like local agricultural shows, festivals, exhibitions and tours, as well as the usual favourites like bowling and laser tag.

Kiama Social Support Group
The Kiama Social Support group runs on Friday evenings from 6pm-9pm.
The group does lots of fun activities like going to the movies, for twilight walks, barbeque dinners, playing bingo, cooking together, singing karaoke and enjoying dinner out at local venues. -

Peer Support Saturday
The Peer Support Saturday group runs on Saturdays from 10am to 3pm, starting from Evans Street in Wollongong.
The participants get a choice of two activities each week. Usually, one is an adventure activity or outing like going on a mystery train ride with a lunch at a local pub or club, and one is a centre-based activity like cooking or craft. -

Weekends Away
Interchange Illawarra hosts regular Weekends Away (they are run as separate boys and girls weekends). The Weekends Away offer short term accommodation to participants at our cottage in Wollongong, with a group of their friends from the Social Support program.
Weekends Away give participants a chance to increase their independence, practice their daily living skills, spend time away from their primary carers and maintain their informal supports.
The activities generally include dinner at a local club with some music and dancing, several outings like a trip to the movies or a market, and some craft or cooking activities.
Weekends Away run from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon.

Kemira Weekends Away
Interchange Illawarra Kemira Weekends Away offer short term accommodation to participants at Kemira House, Kanahooka, with a group of their friends from the Social Support program.
Kemira Weekends Away give participants a chance to increase their independence, practice their daily living skills, spend time away from their primary carers and maintain their informal supports.
The Kemira Weekends Away generally include dinner at a local club, several outings and some craft or cooking activities.

Dragons and Hawks games
We love to support our local teams and attend all of the home games for the St. George Illawarra Dragons (Rugby League) and the Illawarra Hawks (Basketball).
We also attend ‘watch parties’ at a local club for the St. George Illawarra Dragons away games.

Special Events
We offer special event excursions for participants when they become available.
For example we’ve been to Disney on Ice, Nitro Circus, many musicals and theatre productions, Rodeo for Life, Supercross, the Tulip Festival, Harlem Globetrotters and Christmas Carols.
BestLife
Interchange Illawarra’s BestLife Support Program runs each week day starting at the Wallis Centre in Wollongong.
The days are sorted by activity. Active Monday, Life Skills Tuesday, Outdoor Wednesday, Leisure Thursday and Creative Friday.
